Arnold Classic Africa 2016
The biggest and most lucrative pool spectacle is unfolding now in the city of gold, at the most expensive square mile. Sandton Convention Centre at the Arnold Classic is where the BPL is happening. Thirty one Billiard League players from across the three divisions will be battling it out for top honors in FA cup style.
What to expect at the Arnold Classic from the BPL
The first round is currently underway, we have Charl Jonck taking on Harry Martin, the Hotshots derby will once more be happening but this time in Johannesburg, Lenny and Sylvester will be battling for club honors, Aden Joseph will start his campaign for immunity against his homeboy Nelson Stoke, uncle Pieter Rademeyer will be tasked with containing Nsovo Mathonsi and that might be quite a unnerving task for the senior cueist. Yulan Govender will be looking to fly past Riaesh Pillay and Deon Daniels is the luckiest guy and probably the happiest currently, he goes through to the next round because the big guy Donnie De Doncker couldn’t make the trip due to strenuous work commitments. Rushin Bowers looks unperturbed as usual and it will be interesting to see who will come out smiling between him and Mabuti. Paul Bennett is taking on Zander Kriel in a match which might seem easy for the gentleman on paper but we all know pool is not played on paper and everyone is here on merit and a champion in their own right.
It stands to be seen if Charl will be reigning supreme again but he just lost his mobile phone minutes before his match against Houdini Martin. I don’t know if Harry is aware but Charl will have to take it in his stride and soldier on. This is quite a star studded affair, and the bottom half of the draw is just as exciting, and the amount of talent is amazing to say the least.
